The presentation of the 32 images of soup cans together reminds me of Hilla and Bernd Becher's practice of displaying similar but slightly different structures of the same type together in a grid formation (eg, *Water Towers*). Looking at so many nearly identical soup cans beside each other, one is forced to focus on the subtle differences between them, and the impact of viewing all of of the paintings together is greater than viewing any one image in isolaton.
