Just noticed Neal Stephenson has a new book: Termination Shock
As I never read one of his works (shame on me), should this be a first?

At work I have an HP Pro something desktop in which I put the Samsung x40 1TB SSD coming from the previous machine they had for me, happily pacman/pacaur/pikaur/yay/paru-syu'ing along since 2015. The new HP came with a 500GB NVME, with unencrypted data from the previous colleague. I quickly put Fedora on it basically to wipe it, but kept my system running with Arch off the SSD instead.
Now I finally installed Arch on the NVME from within the running Arch. Not getting the encrypted NVME partition to boot properly, I rebooted half a dozen times into the old system to fiddle on the NVME. Now it runs nicely, tried to use Evolution instead of Thunderbird for a change, but muscle memory is strong.
Not sure what's the plan with the two installs now, though.
Actually it's rather 2022 which is coming soon.
Currently, some nice devices help me connect to my workplace, where I push some metadata around, so that people hopefully find what they are looking for to read and study.
The situation helped to establish official rules for mobile work (two days a week). With unfortunate higher numbers of cases working from home changes from permission to recommendation (full time).
Being flexible where to work allows me to leave the city and visit my parents for longer periods, where I can enjoy their company, help with some little things around the house in the middle of nowhere, and go for a walk with the dog.
