That's interesting. I was not aware that the photon had a degenerate state in this manner.
Mass, charge, spin are the basic properties of elementary particles in the Standard Model. I used to look at this poster[0] (now missing Higgs boson) but the image(svg)[1] on the Wikipedia page for Standard Model is better organized.
