Day 14 Natsu 2021

Well I was unavailable yesterday so this is a day late. However, it
deserved a decent update to see what the stories are for day 15.

No juryo visitor after Asanoyama's disgrace evening things up.

Terutsuyoshi faced Keisei. Keisei got a belt frip while Terutsuyoshi
wiggled away. A quick lift up from the back of the belt and Keisei was
kachi-koshi while Terutsuyoshi was make-koshi. Poor Terutsuyoshi. He
fought hard.

Kiribayama had a nice win against Chiyotairyu. They flailed arms
at one another and then Kiribayama managed to sort of walk Chiyotairyu
out of the dohyo.

Kotonowaka faced Myogiryu. They fought ferociously, slaps, grabs, arm
swapping and belt grips galore until Myogiryu managed to lift
Kotonowaka out.

Meisei has to defeat Tamawashi to get his kachi-koshi. Tamawashi is
6-7 so needs 2 wins to get his kachi=koshi. A nice high stake match!
Meisei was strong off the tachiai but something odd occurs with
Tamawashi pushing Meisei to the clay while leaping out the dohyo. The
gyoji proposed Tamawashi the winner. A mono-ii disagreed. Tamawashi is
left make-koshi while Meisei got his kachi-koshi.

Kagayaki next in the Tobizaru launch contest. Tobizaru won and didn't
leave the ring. A bad loss for Kagayaki if Tobizaru didn't even leave
the dohyo.

Wakatakakage faced Okinoumi. After a matta, Wakatakakage got in low
and pushed Okinoumi out.

Horshoryu faced Takayasu for the first time. He was quickly at the
straw, having failed to gain a belt grip. Flailing around, Horshoryu
was open to a swift push to the ground from the head. Horshoryu is
make-koshi.

Terunofuji faced Endo. A key match to decide whether Terunofuji wins
the yusho today and if Endo is in the running. They engage, Endo held
on for his life as Terunofuji wiggled around. They both pivot and
seemingly land out of the dohyo at the same time. Not surprisingly, a
mono-ii is called. Who is in control? Who is the dead body? Endo had a
bit of a grin while Terunofuji looked upset. The gyoji called
Terunofuji. The mono-ii said Endo. How, I don't know. However, we have
an exciting final day. Terunofuji can still win the yusho but so can
Endo. Takakeisho may be in the running but we need to see how he
fights against Shodai next.

They engaged hard, a wave of slaps started. However, a swift side step
and Shodai hit the clay. We have a 3 way yusho fight to enjoy
tomorrow! Terunofuji faces Takakeisho as well. Should be an exciting
match!

So at the end of day 14, we have Terunofuji at 12-2, Takakeisho and
Endo at 11-3. If both Takakeisho and Endo win their bouts, there will
be a play off between them for the yusho.

14 kachi-koshi vs 23 make-koshi. Most of the positions have been
decided. We are just waiting for Onosho, Shimanoumi, Kotonowaka and
Chiyoshoma to find out whether they are make-koshi or kachi-koshi.
Asanoyama will become make-koshi tomorrow with 7 wins, 5 losses and 2
being out.
