It was just days ago when the unbearable heat, high humidity and barely a
breeze, caused The north east and indeed, a large section of the United
States, especially my apartment, to be sweltering with temperatures inside,
even with every window open, hovering at 103 F, 39.4 C. Now, just a day later,
since even yesterday, temperatures inside at nighttime, were around 100 F ,
37.8 C, it's a very comfortable, even pleasurable 74.7 F and falling and 57.9 F
, 14.4 C, outside. Wonderful! The Lord has been good. I expect, that before
the autumn arrives, if we're particularly unlucky, we may see at least two
more such "heat waves." I will consider myself lucky if that's true and also,
truly blessed.
One suspects that it was harder for people who were so dependent on their air
conditioners and electricity. There were reports of people losing power and
thus, were probably caught unawares of their many other options such as
continually being hydrated and taking cold showers and or baths. It must have
been brutal for them. Anyhow, one thing's for certain, soon the winter will
come. I especially love winter and the seasons are one of the rewards of a
temperate climate. I love the summer too but only for the rich sunshine it
affords us, who live above the 30 degree parallel the ability to manufacture
and store enough vitamin D to see us through the long winters.
