A six-year-old boy has died after his mother found him hanged in an apparent
accident with a skipping rope.
Mason Jones was found in an upstairs bedroom of the house on Walmersley Road in
Bury, Greater Manchester.
He was taken to Bury's Fairfield Hospital but doctors were unable to save him
and he died soon afterwards.
It is thought he had been playing with his sister. Special prayers have been
said at the family's parish church, St Joseph's RC Church.
An investigation into Mason's death on Friday was launched but there were not
found to be any suspicious circumstances.
The case has now been passed to the coroner.
Mason was a pupil at St Joseph and St Bede Primary in Bury.
Police said the incident was being treated as "a tragic, tragic accident".
A spokesman added: "It seems as though the children were playing a game which
went wrong.
"The family are extremely traumatised by this."
