How does CryEngine/Lumberyard/O3DE compare in developer experience to Unity and Unreal?
Just downloaded the deb and installed it. Not going to lie it's a little janky but it also seems closer to the metal. It's just a cmake project and the code seems easy to understand. Once you get a project running in the editor it's very similar to unreal. The ui looks right out of UE5.
The discord also seems nice and populated by people from SIGGRAPH. It's run by the Linux Foundation and seems to be an effort to create a game engine equivalent of Blender.
Overall it looks pretty decent for a first release. You can kind of see the possibility of what it could be in the future.
Not sure if a Discord full of people from SIGGRAPH is a good thing; I hate being the least intelligent guy in the room.
Creating WebAssembly/WebGPU support for this engine will be fun.
