Ahhh yes, 300M USD for a company with two employees and without any working product. An investment for the future!
Soooo, basically a standard SV SaaS company?
The sad part is that this company will likely make more money than the average saas startup.
Most of them aren’t forking mastodon with a big name as a supporter as its only value.
But many would if they could ;)
And are regretting that they didn’t, and are considering something analogous
The site:
Mastodon:
Source:
https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon
License:
https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/blob/main/LICENSE
Disclosure and same license are required.
At least it's got interoperability built in, then.
I noticed the zip file a couple weeks ago (well someone else did and I posted about it to the parlerwatch subreddit):

I would have been happy to have tipped off a reporter at the time, but they don't really seem interested in covering this kind of stuff.
There's a repo with a diff against mainline Masto:
https://codeberg.org/TruthSocial/diffs
there's more over at /r/Opensource:

Was linked here on Nov 17th:

Now if this isn't going to be a huge disservice to the cause of Mastodon (which I support, as you might guess).
It hasn't even launched yet? Why is this even a thing?
Under AGPL they do not have to admit they use Mastodon.
They do not have to release Mastodon code under AGPL.
The fact users are attacking them _using_ AGPL over an accidental pre-release shows no one actually cares about what AGPL really means or stands for nor cares.
AGPL, one might guess like GPL is now nothing more than a tool to attack people with. Similar to how MPAA and RIAA uses copyright.
It's about time we say fuck GPL. They are not friends to the free information movements, they are the enemy.
And? This isn't news though, we all know.
The news is they’ve admitted it after previously hiding it in violation of Mastodon’s licence while their marketing copy professed to be original.
And they complied? It would be more worse if they didn't comply or respond at all.
What's the issue?
There isn’t an issue and I don’t know why you’re looking for one. This news resolved the issue that existed.
They are easier and easier to spot aren't they?
