Location (Womb LOCATION [165]) a point on the NE tip of the Hammer.
Experience (Womb EXPERIENCE [655]) Sliding on a cream of denial.
Interupt? (Mythic Chaos [8/5]) No.
Hmmm, I think I'm going to need a creature (Womb CREATURE [125]) Badger
And maybe a descriptor (Womb DESCRIPTOR [241]) Defeated
A defeated badger.
Maybe the badger lost a trinket in defeat (Womb TRINKET [346]): (Womb DESCRIPTOR [634]) Strong Hourglass
Who is "sliding on a cream of denial"? The defeated badger. What is the cream? Is this a drug of some kind? A numbing cream. So that he doesn't have to face his denial. Denial that his strong hourglass is gone?
Is the strong hourglass a magical item? (Aben Almost Certain [3]) yes.
Does the badger know the squire? (Recluse 50/50 [42]) Yes
Who has defeated the badger? Is it the Flock? (Recluse 50/50 [24]) No
Someone unrelated to the conflict. Another creature then. (Womb CREATURE [152]) Capybara, awwww. (Womb DESCRIPTOR [651]) Warlike, wut
A Warlike Capybara stole a Strong Hourglass from the Defeated Badger.
Amazing. What even is this. Badgers are warlike. Capybara's are peaceful. What a reversal.
Okay, I'm going to assume this is a fetch quest. The strung out badger, sliding on a cream of denial into oblivian, will tell me about the squire if I fetch the hourglass from the warlike capybara.
I arrive on the peninsula. When the badger approaches me, stumbling and drooling, I am at first on edge. Badgers are often aggressive, warlike. This one though is sluggish. Eyes glazed. Something is off.
The badger looses interest in me and slumps to the ground. I cautiously approach. Its speech is slurred, and it often looses its trail of thought and leaves sentences half finished. But it manages to tell me its story.
It was once a fierce badger, strong and powerful. Until it lost its prize possession. Its hourglass was stolen from it by an unassuming capabara, who immediately became aggressive and warlike itself. Without the artifact, the badger became weak and despondant, started relying on the dream cream and now can't hardly function without it.
This hourglass bestows strength and aggression on whoever holds it. It is unnatural for a peaceful capabara to be razing the countryside as the badger would tell it.
I must go get the hourglass and destroy it. But not before using it to convince the badger to tell me what it knows of the squire. A bit of trickery, but that is my trade.
---
I follow the trail of ruin and the path of destruction to the capybara. So strange to see a wide-eyed look of rage on a face usually so docile. The small hourglass is worn on a leather strap around its neck.
It raises its warhammer and roars as it charges me.
I act as though I am going to meet it head on, but at the last minute step aside and bash it with my shield (Aben [245] Mixed). It stumbles but does not fall, and instead turns toward me for another charge. I look up and try to summon a large gust of wind to bring down a large dead branch hanging above us (Aben [6631] Success) and it crashed down on the capybara, sending it sprawling, the hammer flying from its hands.
I take a cloth and wrap the hourglass being careful not to touch it, and return to the badger.
---
Hunger and desire gleams in the badgers eyes when I show them the wrapped cloth. Eager to trade one addiction for the other: oblivian and denial for rage and power.
"The squire. Tell me what you know."
Does the badger know a recent known location of the squire? (Recluse 50/50 [12] No, but) They know someone who does.
I sigh with pity. Of course it lied.
"Who then?"
(Womb AVATAR [641]) Survivor of (Womb EXPERIENCE [446]) the sweet run of (Womb CREATURE [324]) Goblin
"And where can I find them?"
(Womb LOCATION [436])
I pocket the hourglass and the badger lunges at me.
I compell the creature, "Forget your hunger. Find peace." (Aben [641] Success) The badger's eyes unfocus and it sways on its feet and then falls to the ground. Its addictions forgotten.
I return to my totem.
