The wind blows from the mouth of the cave
Just picking up right where I left off last time.
I made my first Abenteuerspiel roll when entering the cave to see how well Durtodd would fare against the wind. He did well!
I am reasonably confident that I can carve the wind coming from the cave mouth. It flows like water, and I shall sail upstream.
I have twine and pine tar on me. I spend the afternoon gather sticks and working them with stone, sanding them down. I lie the planks over a curved beam and secure them with a little bit of twine, and then seal them with tar. I have created a curved shield that should serve as a sail.
It's tall, almost as tall as I am. Beside the cave entrance, I hold it up step into the wind holding the shield at an angle, letting the wind blow off of it and around me. It's very loud, and it takes a lot of strength to press against the wind. I proceed at an angle, zig-zagging against the current.
I successfully weave my way through the cave, diverting the worst of the wind with my shield, which holds up remarkably well. The entrance dips and opens up into a wide cavern where I am able to step aside out of the gale and rest against the cave wall.
Before me is a weary and haggard looking man with one arm: the preacher with the broken wing.
