Rain, wind, and a bit of hail, really not a great day to do anything outdoors. I went for my ride as usual but I suspect I spent all my time watching the road and the traffic because I can't remember seeing a single living thing other than people & dogs. It'll have to be the ferals from earlier in the day.
A morning walk to the shops for bread and milk, the large flock of feral pigeons[1] that lives on the roof of Oakleigh Central was still there, making a noise and making a mess. The council keep trying to get rid of them, and put up signs telling people it is illegal to feed them, various old men and women keep putting out piles of breadcrumbs, seed and dig baths in the garden bed to fill with water to attract them back. Meanwhile the rest of us have to dodge the ever present rain of pigeon shit.
Back at home there's half a dozen Common myna[2] hunched up in the bare branches of the plum tree, or when they get bored and fly across the garden, under the leaves of the bay tree. Incessant noise as they chatter to each other, occasionally interrupted as one or two leave or another couple fly in from a surrounding garden.
