Another afternoon lockdown ride, another pause at the Glen Iris wetlands to search in vain for the turtle, watching as a Little black cormorant[1] flew overhead. Then rode around to the bird hide where all I could see was overhanging vegetation, and half completed a lap of the ponds with the boardwalk over the eastern end. Another cormorant shot out from under my feet - it was feeding in the shallows directly below the boardwalk, half-swimming, half-waddling along in 10-20cm deep water churning up the mud with its feet, frantically chasing and gulping down mouthsful of Gambusia[2]
