2021/0210/1800 — wetlands revisited

Somewhere around Christmas last year [1]it all fell apart. My commitment to write something every day collided with holidays and family and travels and although I jotted down a few notes intermittently, I had no workflow to update anything remotely and then when I got home I kept putting off writing about *now* because I wanted to fill in *then* in the order it happened.

Two or three times I was about to restart, and I didn't. Today I shall.

Back in the grind, back at work and even in the office two days a week, although with masks becoming re-mandatory that's been a pain. Today my daily bike ride was an old favourite; Scotchmans creek track, the Anniversary trail up the hill, on the gravel of Ferndale track back down to the creek and a pause for a look around at the Glen Iris wetlands. As I pulled in to the jetty over the big pond to look for the turtle I spied a pair of Red-rumped Parrots[2] in the grass at the edge of the path. They were intent on feeding on seeds of the grass and tried at first to walk away from me to keep about 2m distance, then eventually flew up to a low branch just overhead. As soon as I went past they flew back down and started feeding again. After a couple of minutes of fruitless turtle-searching I turned to leave and the parrots were still there; again they ran about a metre away then flew up to wait for me to pass. As I left they'd come back down and were once again feeding on the grass seeds along the path's edge.
