Chapter 1.
- Summary: It has been two months into summer. Jarett got a box which she plans to use as a carrier of the most useful essential oils, just like how a doctor would have a medical box with him on house visits. While Jarett was wondering which essential oils to select to fill the box's 8 compartments, Nip said that he had seen a similar, but more beautifully decorated box in the loft. Jarett wanted to see that box immediately, as it might contain Topaz's choices.

Chapter 2.
- Summary: Jarett found Topaz's box in the loft. On the outside it had a golden handle and a brass keyhole decorated with a pink heart-shaped jewel. On the inside, it contained a notebook and various tools including small bowls, droppers, glass sticks and beakers, as well as a large bottle of vegetable oil which would have been used as a solvent to dilute the essential oils. The box also had compartments for 4 small bottles and 3 large bottles of essential oil, but the 4 small compartments were empty. The 3 large compartments, on the other hand, had bottles of lavender, chamomile and tea tree oils in them. Jarett noticed a curious crown-shaped ring decorating the cap of the bottle containing lavender oil, but she did not know its meaning. Nevertheless she decided to use this box herself.

Chapter 3.
- Summary: With this year's festival only one month ahead, a lottery draw was held to decide who would be allowed to set up booths at the festival. Jarett, Sue and April wanted to open up their own booth just like last year, but they were out of luck, and were instead requested by other villagers to prepare small gifts for the festival's participants. To come up with an idea for such a gift, they needed to find a herb that would make everyone happy. This was very different from what they were used to doing, namely giving herb medicine to specific people according to their specific needs, and Jarett was in doubt whether such an all-around versatile herb even exists. While discussing about the gift idea, Sue brought up the issue surrounding Cindy, an honest and diligent young lady working at Beehive Hotel while studying to become a lawyer, who had recently become lazy and bad at work for no apparent reason.

Cindy
- Herbs mentioned in this chapter: None.
Chapter 4.
- Summary: On the evening of the same day that Sue talked about Cindy, a raccoon dog named Bessi came to Topaz Villa. He told Jarett that he himself did not need any treatment, and it was his best friend, who used to be positive and energetic, that suddenly became inactive and uninterested in anything. When asked about the reason for such a change, Bessi said that it must be the roses that his friend had been caring for but eaten away by bugs. During the visit, Bessi was behaving so nervously that the kittens got annoyed, but not Jarett. After consulting the recipe book, she prepared a bottle of dried lavender flowers (to be consumed as tea) for Bessi's friend. The next evening, a rabbit named Creo came to visit.

Chapter 5.
- Summary: Creo told Jarett that she herself did not need any treatment. She was worried about her best friend, who used to be calm and rational, but suddenly became overly sensitive and nervous. When asked about the reason for such a change, Creo reckoned that the friend recently moved to live near a river, and once said the sound of flowing water was driving him crazy. During the conversation Creo appeared so inactive and lifeless, that the kittens thought it was she that needed more treatment. But Jarett just blamed it on her worried mind. Then, when Jarett consulted the recipe book, something curious happened. It was noticed by Chiko that the recipe for symptoms described by Creo was exactly the same as what has already been prescribed to Bessi the previous night. Jarett felt strange that the same herb could be used to treat two kinds of seemingly opposite conditions, but she did what the recipe book instructed her to do.
