3 Cork winners win €29K each as National Lotto rolls over for record 50th time

02 Dec

Wednesday night's Lotto draw has seen three lucky Leesider's win €29K after they matched five numbers - not bad but the €19 million jackpot rolled over for the 50th time. Two of the tickets were purchased in-store in Cork, with Field’s SuperValu in Skibb and Top Oil Service Station, Carrigtwohill selling to the lucky customers. The third ticket was sold online in the Rebel County - so if you bought your ticket via the National Lottery website - check it now. The Cork punters were part of a group of 26 winners nationwide to win in last night's draw. The Irish Lottery told the winners to "sign the back of their tickets and to keep them safe." This means that the largest prize in Irish Lotto history remains up for grabs on Saturday night after last night's historic €19.06 million draw continued to roll without a winner, adding fuel to the fire of the current situation around the jackpot prize. This comes after comments were made by TD Bernard Durkan a number of weeks ago about the state of the lottery. "It's been almost six months since it was won - this didn't happen in Ronan Collins's day," said the TD. 'The jackpot has been stuck at €19m since September - what is going on?" "We need a full investigation and audit for the draw. I have never agreed with the Premier Lotteries Ireland decision to increase the number of balls to 47. "I'm old enough to remember 1986 when there were 36 balls and that is how it should have stayed." Deputy Durkan added, "the prospect of winning is so remote that punters must be thinking Shergar would have a better chance at winning Squid Game." Since the €19.06 million jackpot was capped on Saturday 2nd October, 209 Lotto players have benefited to the tune of over €15.8 million from the boosted prize funds at the Match 5 + Bonus and Match 5 tiers. The additional funds that would have usually gone to the jackpot have been flowing down to the lower prize tiers in each of the subsequent draws. .
