Shortly after Christmas 2020 I decided to buy some ink cartridges for a fountain pen I was gifted several years ago. I can't remember who gave it to me, but it's a pretty decent quality, stong nib with a metal body.
I'm honestly surprised fountain pens aren't more popular. They glide across the page beautifully and there is an obvious improvement with the legability and quality of my handwriting. It feels I can even write faster than with a ballpoint pen.
There are obvious drawback to a fountain pen which are addressed with the ballpoint pen, however there are shortcomings with the ballpoint pen not experienced with the fountain pen.
The drawback being that due to the nature of the ink cartridges, the fountain pen is less robust and versatile in situations outside the office. If the pen leaks, you're not in a good place, but for office use I think I'm hooked.
I recent found myself traversing the rabbit hole after my good friend Stu told me about how he's been enjoying Lamy fountain pens.
