This "project" (it's not a project at all) aims to drive my complete interaction with my laptop in pure shell mode.
You might want to ask why. (We could start arguing about your navigation into a gemini site, but we'll simply ignore that), and there are several reasons for this:
* Ecology: Makes little sense to use over-engineered browser, HTTP, and more technologies for the sake of sending some text through the interweb. Everything has a cost, and the less resources it uses, the greener it will be.
* Focus: the simpler the tools are, more focused I can be, and just deliver things. Procrastination is my middle name.
* Technology dependence: the simpler the tools, less machine will be need to be used, si a simple raspberry could be used for my side projects
* To be reachable: text only is easier to read, pase and enjoy by other collectives. Inclussion is not something desirable, but a must
* Improve my skillset: I want to keep on learning, and this is another good tool for this
* To geek: because nerds wanna nerd
* vi: the editor of choice. Should I use a newer version of vi? I read somewhere about forks, but don't know if it's worth the time.
* Shell: currently I use bash on my daily basis, and I see little improvements to be made in a text-only mode (unless it runs easily on epaper display, in which case we could start alking)
* browser. Currently I use lynx, but it would be nice to have a shell that displays images inline. Does that even exist?
* IDE: I know vi can be my IDE of choice. Will see if I can use python with vi and have a good integration. I should create an specific page on htis topic.
* Communication: this is the trickiest part, since I use Telegram on a daily basis, and the client for shell looks death. This is a blocker for me. Signal also has no shell version. IRC is easy to use, and afaik jabber/matrix can be easily used from shell, too.
* social networks: mastodon is perfect for me. ATM don't know if nitter can be used from shell
* multimedia: cmus for music, but I have no idea what to use as vlc replacement
