Writing tech

Thought it'd be fun to describe my current writing set up. And what my ideal setup would be.

Server setup

The server is made by "mbrubeck" and it's called Agate.

Agate Github

Wish I could give more details about the building process, and complation options. But Debian's rustc version is from a year and a half ago, and wouldn't build the "experimental" features used in one of the packages.

And given that the binary works out of the box...

writing side

Locally I'm writing in whatever cilent is convienient at the time. Mousepad, Nano, VScode, anything really.

After writing/editing a file I commit it in git. Which triggers a rsync command to sync the files over to the server.

dream setup

In the future I'd like to have set up one of those fancy E-ink tablets for writing my stuff on. Then have some ML program to transform my handwriting to text.

Since those tablets are really expensive (500 euros at the time of writing) I'll skip on those for now.

I am experimenting with some deep learning models to get the handwriting detection going. Brad has been very kind to help me out making this AI behave.

One thing that is sorely lacking in my writing setup is an editing process. I'll have to make sure what i'm publishing publicly is actually what I wanted to comunicate. And it'll save me from some embarrasing typo's.
