To write well is challenging, to distill the rumbling storm of thought into words in print and for others to understand correctly. It seems impossible. It is a miracle of symbolic abstraction.
And with the written words another miracle occurs. We can encounter and understand other people across space and time. Folks distant and long dead speak to us, and through us they live on.
Throughout the world literacy has risen and continues rising. What was once the blessing of a fortunate few is now nearly ubiquitous. No men are so blessed as we, who live now, in this blessed moment.
