New samll project just came up. Portfolio website for friend of mine. Her current website was also made by me. Anyway. There is a chance to get rid of WordPress. She already send me new design. Layout is simple. There are just a few pages so there is not much to do, except for the whole CMS stuff. Current site sits on WordPress. I really would like to avoid using any CMS. She needs to manage content tho.
My idea is to write templating program in C that will get text and images from simple text files and put them into output files creating a website. Along the way it will make images of different sizes from source pictures. This will help with loading performance of website. She would like to put very big images on web pages and that was an issue in WordPress.
I'm really excited about this small project because of opportunity to create some C software and convince more regular computer user to use simple text files instead of heavy web interface. I hope it will work out. I'm not going to push this idea on her if she don't like it. I would love to make this program so easy to use that she wouldn't even think about going back to WordPress. Time will tell.
I still have other big side project to work on. None of the projects have deadline so no worries. I will deal with them like with all previous projects. Slowly but surly. Like the tortoise that won the race with hare.
