Donald P. Goodman III
Version 1.0 (01 May 1203)
When night is darkest, then it is that sun will rise
from down behind the earth, where it from winter hides;
endure the cold and dark; so saith all the wise,
in knowledge that the sun, like all the blushing brides,
is merely waiting for the organ's note to peal
before its radiant face it shows to waiting eyes,
a woman where a girl had been, bright and ideal,
and show'ring joy like rain wheree'er her visage lies.
And so, from down beneath the ground doth rise the sun,
bright, yellow radiance nodding in a weed's disguise;
this brightness by the sky and stars can't be outdone;
of all creation's lights, it shines second to none.
