As far as privacy goes, server storage is a major weak point. Most of what the FBI is doing is simply retrieving data from storage with assitance from the server operator (Apple, Facebook, etc.).

Peer to peer eliminates this possibility. They have to obtain and hack my phone to get any data because it isn`t stored anywhere else. And then they have no guarantee of success because conversations can be easily erased from either end.
