Hi, I'm the author of Go Note Go. Thanks for posting to HN!

I've been using the system quite a bit these last two months since I started building it, and still getting lots of value from it. The whole thing is open source and for the hacker-type there are enough instructions to build your own:

https://github.com/dbieber/GoNoteGo

, so hopefully someone here can get some value out of it as well :)

I'll probably post this again as a Show HN a bit later once I reach a good point for sharing (although tbh I think it's pretty good for sharing as is).

Happy to take questions; I'll try to monitor the discussion for a bit. Looking forward to seeing what ideas folks have here!

I really wish that apps like "just press record" would allow one-touch recording that is sent to my inbox.

Infuriatingly, I have a one-button record on the apple watch, but it's output is funneled only into the iphone app, so I need to periodically take this app and manually go through notes.

It's both sad and exciting to see how many low hanging fruits still exist for very basic needs.

You're right! When I had an Apple Watch (it smashed and I never placed it) I used to just JPR for the same reason but then often failed to act upon the recordings because of the same problem you mention.

One of my "basic needs" is short term reminders. For example, I forget things in the course of a minute or two. So I created a prototype app at a hackathon where I could push a single button on the watch, record an audio clip, and it would play back automatically after a minute. It worked, but the audio volume you could manually set as a third party developer was way lower than what Apple could do themselves so you could barely hear the audio! Still.. I'd like to re-explore that idea one day as it would improve my quality of life hugely.

That app seems interesting I would find it useful. Also the first paid app I’ve seen that says the author collects no data from the app.

I find the headless aspects of both this project and your shh shell project really interesting... a lot of new ideas bubbled up for me after seeing this. Did you also ever experiment with near-headless interfaces, perhaps a single-line display or a character display with the last 10 characters?

Author of Go Note Go here.

I've shared the project with a small group who then each built their own Go Note Go, and one of the folks in this group is doing exactly what you suggest: adding a small display and hacking around with it. Don't think it's added yet, but looking forward to seeing what he does with it.

Im like the idea but simply record the audio

in audio format if that the way you want to consume it and then speech to text it, feel more practical and not need a whole keyboard, in the car, you still use a button to the point(portable audio recorder), ghat what the writer of dune(if Don't remember wrong)does for his novels
