Becoming Nonhuman: Eva Tiamat Medusa

There's a fairly long list of beings I admire for having the courage to transcend humanity. Casting off the human body (often white, male, "unmarked") in favour of a form that fits them, they stand alongside disabled cyborgs as the pioneers of transhumanism.

Unlike the "transhumans" envisioned by white-male-dominated fantasy, they aren't trying to become "Homo superior", a "smarter", "fitter" and more "productive" humanity, but moving in their own direction, reclaiming their bodies and reassembling them in their own image. Unlike the transhumans of fiction, they neither pursue traditional beauty nor are they pitiable mutants burdened with regret. Most often, their deliberate deviation from the human is driven by a simple, universal goal of life: to feel at ease in their own skin.

As someone who has never felt at ease in human form, I wish to celebrate them. First on my list: Eva Tiamat Medusa.

I am the Dragon Lady, A pre-op M2F transgender in the process of morphing into a human dragon, becoming a reptoid as I shed my human skin and my physical appearance and my life as a whole leaving my humanness behind and embracing my most natural self awareness as a mythical beast. As for pronouns I prefer to be called "it" and not be referred to as a she or a her. WELCOME TO OBLIVION!

Tiamat has a lot of blogs! As well as writing about its experiences as a dragon lady, it's posted its art, cooking, poetry and more to share with the world. Common among dragons is that we tend to have a lot of irons in the fire, so to speak: various projects going on, often with a notion behind them of helping the downtrodden and making the world a kinder place. In Tiamat's case, this has taken the form of body modification awareness, with several of its blogs providing support and positive coverage for those who have chosen to get horns or other "extreme" body mods.

Tiamat's personal choice to transition away from human seems to come from early-life transspecies feelings, as well as a general distaste for the actions of humanity. Especially for someone born in 1961, its rejection of the binary and embracing of "it" pronouns is a powerful act of self-determination.

Says Tiamat of itself:

In not so many words I'm pretty much over the ways of the race that runs this planet, and, just in the same way I am so over being human, I am also over being male and female and I hereby reject both genders leaning more towards being alienesque, and less human as I continue to change my physical form to match my soul and my natural and true form; a half reptilian half human reptoid dragon.

May this dragon continue to live long and roar loud, says I!
