Durtodd has arrived in Lisergia to witness the Burning Swan test the Squire and discover what happened to the missing Knight. The Scribe will record the story.
He is currently in the Herald's cave, tasked with returning the Wand of Wind to the Magpie.
Been a while kind of dusty at this.
I think I remember the Herald not being a friend of mine, but willing to work with me against the Magpie. I'll role a LINE on the womb as a greeting from him.
Womb: line [541] The elder answered as an action
In response to the Swan, obviously. Are the birds a threat?
Recluse: probable yes [52/4] Yes, and...
Yes, and not just to the squire but to all of Lisergia. They must be stopped at all costs!
The magpie must have been given this want to help the flock, to aid the swan, or to deliver it to her. We must keep the wand of the wind from falling back into their hands.
The Herald, Phamid (Womb: name [431]), is too weak, too tattered to continue. I will take the wand and confront the magpie and drive it away, and keep it safe from the flock.
"The elder answered as an action.. he sent you here to secure the wand. You have succeeded, Phamid. Tell me, the elder.. he is your master. He is the one you prepare the world for. He opposes the birds.. What action does he insist on taking?"
Womb: Action [123] Agree with the AVATAR [244] Defender
"Agree with the Defender.. The squire? But he is just a child.."
Recluse: p. no [5/22]
"Yes, he is the Defender of Lisergia."
"But he is not ready! The Knight hasn't prepared him for this! His training is not complete."
"Then he needs all the help he can get."
I accept the Wand of Winds. Phamid is too weak to go on.
Story:
Good plot advancement. Seems like we potentially have the forces of good (Elder) and evil (Flock) fighting over the fate of the young Defender, whose master has gone missing, and in whose hands lies the fate of Lisergia. Solid.
Mechanics:
Finding the Womb useful for injecting randomness, and Recluse is a dead easy yes/no oracle. Mythic is turning out to be mostly a scene/thread tracker.
Next session will probably be more abenteuerspiel as it will be closer to traditional combat.
I'm going to go ahead and start scene 4 right away using Mythic
Setup: Confront the Magpie
Chaos: 6
Modification:
- Chaos 4/6 = interrput
- Focus 35 = Introduce new NPC
- Action 59 = Agree
- Subject 13 = War
Wow okay we need a new NPC.
Womb give me an AVATAR [531] of ELEMENT [454]: Provoker of Pearl. Who is this some asshole clam?
If they interrupted the scene then they prevented me from confronting the magpie.. Not sure if that is meant to help me or help the birds.. or help the elder.
Is the provoker allied with the Flock? Recluse [16] No.
Then they have agreed to war with Flock. Agreement suggests a third party, maybe a mercenary.
Hired by the elder.
If the provoker is working against the Flock and prevented me from confronting the Magpie, he must not want the wand to fall into their hands.
Does he think the magpie is stronger than me and will overpower me? Rec. [62] Yes
Will he join me fighting the Magpie? Rec [65] Yes, and...
Yes and he will let me keep the wand for safe keeping.
Name for the provoker Womb NAME [414] Nomal.
Okay me and Nomal the Oyster gonna go ruffle some feathers.
Outside the caves, Durtodd is greeted by a large Earth elemental, green vines wrapped around his limbs and torso, his large stone shell making him look vaguely turtle like.
"You cannot face the Magpie, Chronicler. You are no match for you. And I cannot allow the wand to fall into the hands of the Flock."
I convince Nomal to stand by my side against the Magpie.
When I approach her, I pretend to be returning the wand while Nomal sneaks around behind her. At the opportune moment, I blast her with a cone of wind into the waiting grasping vines of Nomal.
Aben [5] 6: Success, Stress
The magpie is restrained, but the ritual drains energy from Durtodd.
Durtodd moves in with a cudgel and attacks the disadvantaged bird (Aben. [5] 6: Success), who is knocked out cold.
Nomal ties up and binds the magpie and congratulates Durtodd. "You fought well and have proven yourself worth. You shall keep the wand and keep it safe."
This chapter is over. I will take a corollary and return to my Totem to rest (Aben: recover [6] Success). My pool is replenished.
