i'm unconvinced that gemini will ever really catch on. i think it's a shame as i really quite like it, but i don't believe that people are wired in a way that's conducive to something like this. the desire to pursue adventure on the internet is gone from the public headspace, replaced with the desire for adventure to come to us. modern social media has wired us to expect no work of enertainment, and i think in exchange we have traded the ability to get excited about the content we see on it. i remeber being younger and coming in to school to find the corridoors abuzz with the discussion of a new game or website a classmate had stumbled upon, a single piece of minor content became the essence of a day, or sometimes even a week. now instead it becomes just another item in an infinite list on a generated, automated, targeted feed. gemini feels the counter to this, even the feeds found on gemini require you to strap up, prepare yourself and wade in, waist deep, onwards to adventure.

i like it here on gemini. enough to leave some poems, a few words, and maybe eventually something more. most of the verse is of little worth, but they had ideas that were worth exploring at the time. it's been a year since i wrote any now, and it feels a shame, especially as i've lost my grip on the style i had in 2019. perhaps that's hard to tell from the few that are up, but if i can re-discover the missing rest from that time they'll end up here too.
