A slightly longer ride than my weekday usual, down south to Beach road then up around the bay to Elwood before heading almost straight east and home. It had been hot all day... until I got to within a block of the bay, the dark clouds from the west reached me and I felt the first breaths of a cold breeze. Riding up the bay the wind picked up so most of the birdlife dissappeared, Silver gulls[1] wheeling around most places, a much larger Pacific gull[2] at Black rock and a few Pied cormorants[3] near Brighton. Even they all vanished as the rain hit me and the ride home was cold and wet.
