2021/0830/1100 — wattlebirds

One of the more common native birds in the garden are the wattlebirds; both Little wattlebirds[1] and the larger Red wattlebirds[2], I tend to see the former from the study window as they bounce around in the camellia bush on the flowers, but both kinds seem to enjoy much the same foods. Today we'd come inside from a pre-work walk around the park and watched out the window as a pair of Red wattlebirds fluttered gracelessly from one part of the front garden to another. One of the pair seemed interested in the nectar from the blossom on a self-seeded plum tree, the other was clambering all over the timbers of the gate, either collecting spider web for nesting material or eating the spiders & insects, I'm not sure, although I think they're supposed to only be nectar feeders…
