A very wet and wild day today so I left it until there was a break in the weather to go out for my ride. Even so I got soaked, the bike got covered in mud, and most of the birdlife was hiding away, huddled up under cover out of view. I was tempted to join them, especially as I was crossing the golf course when the short period of clear weather turned to hail!
The creeks were a flooded brown roaring mess, so definitely no ducks or waterfowl to be seen, finally down around Glen Iris wetlands I met half a dozen Swamphens[1] stalking around on the grass and a pair of coot[2] paddling around in a large pond that was away from the stream and amazingly, was still clear and barely moving.
