(finally typed up months later)
Seagulls[1] and magpies[2], a few cockies[3] screeching about, numbers well down on Lorne normal. Along the beach in the cold, up to the shelter of the cypress walk. A bush rat[4] — I think — scurries off when it sees us. Around the Erskine and through the caravan park, pied[5] and black cormorants[6] in the river or perched. White faced heron standing in the sun. A few pairs of black duck and dozens of wood duck. Near the shops a banded rail[10] stalks off, disturbed by dogs being walked.
