Written on Sunday at the end of a week of disruptions, delving back through my memory.
Another cold night and nearly frosty morning, but fined up to a spectacular still and sunny autumn day, I headed out for two hours for a ride south to the bay and then up around the bayside path. Lots of seagulls[1], not a lot else other than absolutely huge hordes of people, then stopping to admire the view in the car park above Sandringham yacht club I stood still for less than 30s and two enormous brown rats[2] came stalking out of the undergrowth and straight across the path to the park bench, then stayed there feeding on crumbs and scraps as I watched. Kind of amusing given that it was less than 2m from the back of an icecream van and probably 20 people queued up buying their icecreams, oblivious to the rats.
