Out for my lunchtime walk a bit later than usual, around the streets near Monash Uni where mostly I just hear and see Noisy miners[1] in every garden. Coming back I cross the Carlson reserve and am passed a dozen times by a whirling swooping trio of Welcome swallows[2]... or maybe four, too hard to keep track of the individuals as they shot from almost touching the ground to a dozen metres overhead. A couple of magpies[3] warbled and chortled to themselves and probed for worms in the wet soil, and somewhere in the larger trees a couple of Little ravens[4] were calling
Oh, and there was also a large fluffy black domestic rabbit that took one look at me and lolloped across to the fence then wriggled under and back into its garden, but most definitely domestic and not part of the wildlife.
