Another hot day, 33°C and no wind as I went out for my late afternoon ride. Lockdown is over so I headed for the bay, meandering south and west through the suburbs until I popped out somewhere in Hampton, then on up the bayside path and roads.
Pigeons, three kinds. Mostly large numbers of ferals, the domestic pigeon[1], the rock dove, call it what you will. But also a couple of pairs of Spotted doves[2] and up near the end of North road a few Crested pigeons[3] feeding in the grass.
Alongside the bay and finally some water birds, a trio of Black swans[4] cruised around feeding, far enough out not to be bothered by the sunbathers and paddlers splashing in the shadows, a Pied cormorant[4] perched on a street light above a boat ramp, perhaps watching for fishing offal, perhaps just resting.
