Another hot dry windy day and nothing much of note to see or write about on my daily ride, today's brief note will have to be something smaller and closer to home, albeit much louder.
Yesterday while gardening we found a large green cicada sitting quietly -- yes, they are quiet sometimes -- in the rose bush. About the size of my thumb and almost the exact same green as the leaves and buds, lucky it didn't find itself pruned along with the dead flowers. Taking a look today and the Green grocer[1] was still in almost the same spot, waiting for the temperature to rise and the wind to drop to deafen us as they do in the evenings -- as it says in wikipedia, "It is one of the loudest insects in the world."
