A new systems page is up describing the script I just put together to make it easier to input emoji independent of whatever facilities are provided within whatever application I'm using:
TBH, this is how I think it should generally be done. Kinda bothers me that each and every chat program I interact with has its own independent implementation of emoji lookup and input. Seems like a waste of developer time, CPU time, and memory.
<meta>I really dislike writing gemlog entries like this one, which basically amount to "no, there's no content *here,* but there *is* new content *over there!*" But it seems like I'm stuck with it until I can work out a way to mesh the wiki-like way I want to arrange my information with the way that all the Gemini aggregators seem to want the information presented.
I should probably also re-assess how I organize "systems" as well. "Wetware"-oriented things, e.g., "bins" and "food," seem like they should be somehow differentiated from, e.g., simple descriptions of scripts like "emoji input." 🤷</meta>
