I rode home this afternoon along Scotchmans Creek, detouring for a lap of Huntingdale wetlands along the gravel paths. Things have mostly returned to normal after the storms, the wind and rain of the past few weeks.
Constant noise from above on the bike path heading to the wetlands; Noisy miners[1] down low and Rainbow lorikeets[2] up high keeping up their constant barrage of sound. The wetlands itself mostly inhabited by Moorhens[3] and some ducks. A couple of pairs of Black ducks[4] with ducklings and Chestnut teal[5] with ... err ... teallings? Further round towards Huntingdale road where the vegetation is thicker I spotted a Royal Spoonbill[6] stalking around at the water's edge just above the waterline, dabbling constantly back and forth with its beak for food — not a common sighting here, but I've seen them a few times previously
