Hello World

This is where my journey begins...

Gemini caught my attention because of the chatter about it on Mastodon: more and more people kept mentioning it, and from their comments, I guessed it was something similar to gopher.

At first, I didn't consider joining Gemini as I already have several projects scattered in (and at the outskirts of) the web, and too little time to maintan them.

But curiosity got the best of me and I the more I read about Gemini, the more it resonated with me:

From a technical point of view, it takes from gopher the simplicty of writing in plain text, but with with the modern and more flexible approach of markdown and "traditional" HTML websites.
From a more philosophical perspective, it embodies the ideal of an internet that is focused on content, on meaningful human interactions, and free from the bells and whistles (to put it nicely) that bloat the WWW; an internet that brings people together and allows its netizens to share knowelge and thoughts without being turned into a product.

And then... I found out I could have my capsule hosted over at tanelorn.city.

I found Tanelorn.

I *found* Tanelorn!

How could I resist? :)
