There's a couple of Bugzilla bugs to follow on that:

I haven't, but I've come across this problem as well. Would it be
possible for an add-on to just add "web+" to all <a> tags with
href^=gemini:// ? Then define a protocol handler to web+gemini?
I was going to try this but my Javascript skills are sorely lacking.
