I've been pretty busy learning 6502 assembly for the last week and it's been a whole lot of fun! I'm getting really comfortable editing assembly code. Most of the learning process has been figuring out tooling that works for me. I've been using the go6502 assembler/vm/debugger to run my 6502 assembly code, vim to edit, and pretty6502 to tidy up my assembly code formatting.

These tools work pretty well for me, mostly because I've taken a hiatus from trying to do stuff on Plan 9 and just bang out stuff on OpenBSD, where I'm more comfortable. I've not forgotten Plan 9, I just need to put it further down on my project queue for the time being. Right now, that queue looks something like this:
I've also been trying to exercise a bit more. Before the pandemic hit, I was going for a run at lunchtime pretty regularly, but I don't want to be stuck in my gym's locker room so close with other people 'til this whole COVID-19 thing blows over. You know... eventually.
As busy as my project queue is, I really feel like I've hit my stride in the contentment I derive from how I've structured my life. I'd like to spend more time with my friends, but I'm not particularly suffering from isolation, either. I largely attribute that to finding community online, especially on IRC and Mastodon.
Anyway, today feels like a rest day from "doing things." It's Friday, I spent my evening watching Hocus Pocus with my family, and I'm frankly tapped out on the energy levels. Hope to get a good night's sleep tonight, maybe go for a run tomorrow morning, then hit the books again afterwards to do some more 6502 learning!
Perhaps I'll do a little reading this evening. I've still got Ursula K. Le Guin's "The Dispossessed" to read for pleasure, so that sounds like a good plan.
Until next time, be well!
