offline first (cont.)
what an amazing and strange journey it's been so far. one month now on gemini (and kind of on mastodon too). things are so swell and lovely. i'm honestly blown away. but i've spent too much in my comfy zone at the computer again spamming whatever shit i like to broadcast who i am to my newfound lovely friends. i'm going to now spend some time offline to recharge a bit. it's all on this same theme, what to do when we love the people so much that we're happily just being static screen monkeys. i will allow myself to the gemtexts, and moderate exposure to mastodon: i don't have too much friends so i feel i can 'keep up' easily enough. alex was also talking about this, and i do wonder how could i meaningfully interact with more than ... some amount of people. the follower-mechanic kinds makes it so that you might have a lot of 'zombies' who just lurk you and i find this kind of creepy. they're more close to internet strangers than online friends at that point.
