    A key element in datacommunication is the International Standards      
    Organization (ISO) model for Open Systems Interconnection (OSI). This

    and serves as a functional guideline for universal intercomputer       
    communication. It was developed in the late 1970s and formally adopted 
    as an international standard in the spring of 1983. This model is known
    as CCITT X.200 or ISO 7498. It is composed of seven layers: Physical,  
    Datalink, Network, Transport, Session, Presentation, and Application.  
    Contrast with Systems Architecture Network (SNA).

    A database found on each Supervisor's disk that contains lists of      
    origination hosts and nodes and destination hosts in a TYMNET network. 
    At login, the Supervisor reads from this database to validate the      
    user's circuit request. The NETVAL program manages this database and   
    forwards this information to each Supervisor. Also called Class        
    (origination) and Group (destination) tables.

    Public Asynchronous OutDial or Private Asynchronous OutDial. A BT North
    America enhanced service that allows the user to communicate with      
    remote asynchronous computers and terminals that are not subscribers to
    the TYMNET network, over publicly available ports. OutDial can be used 
    to send information from a central computer to remote asynchronous     
    devices, from a PC to another PC, or from a terminal or PC to an       
    asynchronous computer.                                                 




    Output Ring (ORING)                                                        
    ===================
