I finally got it to compile on debian using rustup stable. It's now thegeminid for gemini://libraryoferis.org The big win here is that I wasable to get CGI working perfectly to serve dynamic content using shellscript, python, and sqlite3! 

Have you thought about support the .gmi file type as well? It took meforever to realize what was going on with index.gmi. I am looking attrying gemserv out on tilde.pink, but my current users are allusing .gmi.
