Boomer Darkwave vs Gothic Bubblegum

I had to look up Darkwave because I'm generally pig ignorant of musical genres. Interestingly, the word 'gothic' comes up 29 times on Wikipedia's page on this genre, so there's clearly a connection in the minds of those who know such things. I didn't bother looking for 'gothic' in the page for bubblegum pop.

The original ponderings on this subject

Wikipedia's page on Dark Wave

But I think both names themselves are so astoundingly good that they deserve genres created just for them, if they don't already exist. They should be very similar, but with enough subtle differences to cause arguments when drunk.

My newfound penchant for Boomer Darkwave, along with the fact it was discovered on Gemini - the feeling of elitism is almost palpable.

Update

Okay, I did look up 'gothic' in Wikipedia's page for bubblegum pop. Zilch.
