(Too paywalled didn’t read.)
Not sure how they measured, but I’ve definitely been working weirder hours but probably less. In my personal experience having no commute was crossed with having no childcare. This created a dynamic with me and my wife where we worked essentially split shifts which may have appeared to be more hours, but with significant gaps dedicated to watching the kids. Normally the commute also included a commute to daycare/school which was sort of dual purpose commute and child supervision.
Also paywalled for me. Fuel consumption has been drastically reduced and I don't even drive that far. That also means less hours exposed to traffic collision risk. I believe insurance companies should give me a discount for that, but I won't install a tracker so I doubt it will happen.
if by "worked" you mean having my laptop open and connected to VPN so i can monitor my email and teams, than sure.
if by "worked" you mean "spent more time actually doing something" than no: i finish my work much faster without all of the office distractions.
