Hello Geminauts,

I've just released v1.1.0 of md2gemini[1], I hope you're all proud. ;)

I'm not just emailing to plug my project though. This new release addssupport for footnotes as an alternative way to handle inline links, which markdown supports but text/gemini doesn't. You can see an exampleof how these footnotes look in my email here. md2gemini will automaticallycreate footnotes for all your inline links in markdown, if you enable it.

md2gemini actually offers several linking options: breaking up the paragraphto directly link, removing all links, footnotes at the end of eachparagraph, or footnotes at the end of the document - like my email.

There was some discussion in another thread about having inline linksin text/gemini, which solderpunk rejected because it would makeparsing much more difficult. I agree with him, and so I wonder whatothers on this list think of my take on this. Does using footnotes makesense? Are there better, or just different ways to do solve this problem?
