Defining free trade

A free trade capitalist system is centered around:

Freedom

• Freedom to sell at any price you feel is reasonable
• Freedom to buy only at a price you feel is reasonable

Consequences

• Buyers and sellers negotiate prices based on changing supply and demand

Barriers

• Something that interferes with price or forces a sale is a "Barrier"
• Barriers prevent fair prices from being achieved
• Human needs - like buying at a high price to avoid death - is a barrier that disrupts price
• Environment needs - like preventing exhaustion of natural resources via taxes - are barriers

Encumbered free trade

Free trade does not make any effort to categorize barriers to free trade.

Free trade does not say whether fair prices are more or less important than human life or the environment.

Where the government does not believe fair prices are more important than life of the citizens, it will impose barriers on a free trade system.

Sandboxed free trade

To sandbox free trade is to create rules where free trade may be completely unencumbered by barriers.

Outside the sandbox, trade is regulated. Inside, trade is completely free.
