# Various Updates



## Job Hunt Update

I have had a couple of interviews in the last week. Feels like
momentum is picking up in the local job market now that the year has
flipped.

I am really wanting to buy a Nokia N810, but am waiting until I am
employed...

## Computing Update

On my Thinkpad x201, I have switched to BSPWM from I3. I have used
this WM in the past. This time, it was dead simple as I was already
using SXHKD for keybindings. I have also expanded my use of dmenu
scripts to do useful things like open a file in gvim from a list of
common choices.Dmenu is by far the *best* suckless program as far as
universal utility.

I have also switched back to using Termite as my terminal emulator.
I was using lxterminal in I3 due to image preview working better
than the other terms I tried (in ranger). However, BSPWM breaks
lxterminal. Initially termite would not display images either. I
installed ueberzug and ranger from github. Configuring ranger to use
ueberzug as its image method thus fixed the issue and it all works
beatifully in termite.

## Music Update

I have been acting as a technical advisor for a talented local band
here in Rock Springs. First, some weeks ago, I installed Ubuntu
Studio on a laptop for them. Then today gave some training on
connecting a microphone to their setup. I may end up mixing the EP
they are working on. I look forward to this. They are frigan rad AF.
