Rob's Capsule has been fairly quiet in the last week as other projects, both real and virtual, have taken priority. I am still here, however, and I have no intentions of stopping updates anytime soon.
A few weeks ago I discovered that my Urbit planet, ~winnup-libfel, has not received any messages since 2022-12-08. I could `|hi` other planets, but no channels were receiving any updates. It turned out my star had fallen behind and was not pushing updates for %base, and without them, I couldn't update any other vats and I was no longer able to communicate. Changing update sources fixed that problem, but a new problem arose: I was upgrading from kelvin 418 to 415, and the update sizes for 417 and 416 collectively were too large to fit in loom. An open ticket on GitHub provided instructions on how to apply each update one at a time. Finally, just this morning, my planet reached full functionality again. If you've tried to send me a message on Urbit between December and now, and I haven't replied to your message, this fiasco is why.
In the meantime, I spent a good portion of the week exploring NNCP^, a suite of store-and-forward file transport and remote execution programs similar to UUCP. The documentation is often terse and sometimes awkwardly-written, but once I found some third-party guides and examples, I picked up on the software very quickly. I'm currently testing automated file synchronization and decentralized messaging that can recover send order. Once I figure out some lingering questions, I'd like to post a guide here on Gemini. Someday I might try managing updates to the capsule with NNCP--or even hosting it!
I ate a lot of sweets last week once again, but I'm slowly managing to cut down, and as a result I did lose weight this week. I didn't make as much progress with "Before the Storm", however.

I was a big fan of Harry Potter when I was young, so I decided to buy Hogwarts Legacy for PlayStation 5 last week. I tried to pre-order it on Wednesday, but it turned out the local video game shop had broken street date, and I ended up getting a physical copy two days early.
