2023 Week 1: Thoughts and Photos

2023-01-09

---

In previous years, I've used this kind of log to collect various thoughts and catch-up content that doesn't (yet) warrant a full post of its own. Since I have some goals for 2023, or at least habits I want to form and aspirations to motivate me, I'd like to start logging my progress in relation to them in these posts.

I have a large backlog of books to read this year. Last night I finished "Mistborn" by Brandon Sanderson, which was quite a ride. My next target is to finish the novel written by former coworker, mostly so that I can give him feedback on the manuscript. He asked me to read it almost a year ago; it's past time for me to get back to him on it.

My weight went down marginally this week, only a fifth of a pound by my scale. Given how much junk food I ate, it's a bit surprising. However, I'm really trying to exercise more again, and I think the dance game sessions and walking trips I took last week helped stave off any potential weight gain.

I also want to be more punctual in getting things done that I told people I'd get done. This includes everything from completing work tasks to returning borrowed items to looking after my own physical and mental health. I'm a very disorganized person, and I want to change that in 2023.

I purchased an interim smartphone while waiting for my F(x)tec Pro1 X to arrive. The Nokia G21 is fairly cheap as far as smartphones go, at least in the United States, but it boasts a 50-megapixel main camera. While on a walk around a local park, I decided to test it out.
