2021 Week 48: Thoughts and Photos

2021-12-06

---

My weekly catch-up posts going forward will be titled "Thoughts and Photos" instead of "Thoughts and Catch-Up". This is to more clearly reflect that each entry does in fact contain photos, in case readers are interested in that kind of thing. Weekly photos can also be accessed directly from the "Files" section of my capsule.

Most of my free time last week was taken up by working on chess over Gemini. I didn't prioritize tasks I should have, such as exercise and house chores. I'm not sure I want to undertake a project that intensely again, at least anytime soon.

My weight was once again steady this week. The difference from last week was statistically insignificant, as it has been for quite a while now. On the bright side, I haven't been gaining weight either--I seem to be quite steady where I am. That tells me that I don't need to change much to continue losing weight. I just need to have the discipline to do it.

The local arcades charge half-price for non-redemption games on Wednesdays, which is why most rhythm game players go on that day. This week a former community member who moved away many years ago visited the area on Monday, so most players went to the arcade with him that day. Only I and one other person went to the arcade on Wednesday, which allowed me to play many more rounds of Pump It Up than I normally do.

A Glimpse of a KC-135

(PNG, 800x450, 167 KiB)

Military traffic rarely comes to the local airport--almost all departures and arrivals are small passenger jets. On Friday I decided to go planespotting over my lunch break, and as one aircraft approached the runway, I suddenly noticed that it had four engines. The aircraft performed a touch-and-go instead of landing, and as it climbed out, I realized it was a USAF KC-135 tanker. This was the best photo I was able to get of the elusive 367-80 derivative.
